Summer comes to Animal Crossing New Horizons... and that means you can go back to fishing for sharks. We teach you the different types and their conditions of appearance.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is an idyllic experience in a heavenly place... so much so that it is not necessary to go on vacation. With your Nintendo Switch you can live all seasons of the year in this tender and addictive life simulator, which allows us to fish all kinds of fish and sea creatures.

Surely one of the great attractions of summer in New Horizons is the appearance of sharks, huge sea creatures that you can catch with your angling. If you live in the northern hemisphere, the different types of sharks you can catch are already available, which we will detail below.

Whether to sell them for large quantities of Animal Crossing bells buy or to donate them to the Museum, here you will find the locations, dates and times to get hold of the different types of sharks. From the fearsome White Shark to the huge Whale Shark, to catch them you will have to arm yourself with courage... and insistence.

Do you want to have all the sharks in your possession? Well, stay with us and discover how to catch all the sharks in Animal Crossing New Horizons: places, times and dates.

Catch all the sharks in Animal Crossing New Horizons: places, times and dates

The first thing you should know is that sharks show a distinctive sign with the rest of the fish in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Not only is the silhouette in the sea larger, but they show their dorsal fin out of the water. If you see this, you will know that said silhouette belongs to a shark.

Of course, these creatures only appear in the fall season, they are much larger and will give you a lot of bells to sell them. Of course, be sure to donate a copy of each to the Socrates Museum (for the sake of culture and science). These are the 4 types of sharks:

  • Great White Shark
  • Hammerhead Shark
  • Whale shark
  • Sierra Shark

You should know that these sharks only appear at certain times of the day, and also have date limitations. That is, some will only appear a few days, under a certain climate and conditions. These are the times and dates to fish the 4 types of sharks (northern hemisphere only)

  • Great White Shark: from 16:00 to 9:00, only during the months of June, July, August and September
  • Hammerhead Shark: from 16:00 to 9:00, only during the months of June, July, August and September
  • Whale Shark: all day and all night, during the months of June, July, August and September
  • Saw shark: from 16:00 to 9:00, only during the months of June, July, August and September

As you can see, 3 of the 4 types of sharks only appear at certain times of the day, while the Whale Shark has no schedule limitations. Of course, remember that you can only catch them during the summer stage. At the end of September, with the arrival of autumn, they will no longer be available.

On the other hand, there are no limitations on location. You can catch all the sharks anywhere on the island, either on the coast or offshore. Of course, keep in mind if the fin is in sight and also the size of the silhouette, because otherwise it could be any other fish.

The best trick for shark fishing in Animal Crossing New Horizons is to use a Animal Crossing tool - baits, like the clams you pick up on the beach. This makes the sharks' rate of appearance larger, although you'll have to arm yourself with patience and wait until you see one.

Beware, because some non-shark fish also have a dorsal fin visible to full view. This is the case of the Lionfish and other creatures, so many times you will find that you have not gotten a shark. The best solution is to use baits (this will act as a filter) and have patience, because sooner or later you will come across one.

Remember to donate the four species to the Museum. Once Socrates has all four types of sharks, we recommend selling them to get a good number of bells. The Hammerhead Shark is sold for 8000 bells, the Saw Shark for 12,000 bells, the Whale Shark for 13,000 and the Great White Shark for 15,000 bells.
